Active IQ Level 2 Circuit Training (REP's Accredited)
Introduction
The Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Instructing Circuit Sessions is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ), at level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework. It is also recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 2.
Candidates will broaden their skills as a gym instructor by developing their ability to plan and deliver safe and effective non-music based circuit training sessions.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should hold a Level 2 qualification in gym instructing as listed and recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). Some experience of circuit training is useful but not essential. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore a degree of physical fitness is
necessary. There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and candidates should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.
Unit Content
Unit 1 – Planning a Group Circuit Training Session
At the end of this unit the candidate will be able to demonstrate, through planning their own circuit sessions(s), knowledge of the different types of circuit class and how to structure a safe and effective circuit training session.
Assessment
Internally assessed detailed session plan to include warm up, main session and cool down components, with circuit layout, teaching points, objectives and alternative exercises.
Unit 2 – Instructing a Group Circuit Training Session
At the end of this unit the candidate will be able to demonstrate the teaching skills required for the instruction of a non-music based group circuit training session, to include warm up, main session and cool down.
Assessment
Internally assessed direct observation of candidate instructing a circuit training session.
Candidates are also required to evaluate their own performance and write an action plan for improvement.
